Inspired by Mirror's Edge, Titanfall & Warframe (yes, for real!). Movement is acceleration based, like in the most timeless classics, which allows for more depth to movement & for techniques like counter-strafing to become important high-skill-ceiling base mechanics. On top of that, add moves inspired by game's like Mirror's Edge, in which you get additional degrees of freedom, however not at a degree that becomes out of place or immersion breaking, but rather with a certain level of semi-realism that reminds of early-2000's works like Matrix, Max Payne, F.E.A.R. and similar games of the time, where the specific boundaries of suspension of disbelief were being tested.
You can also find moves like sidesteps, combat rolls, wall flips, wall dives, backflips, and more moves that are all easily accessible through a single [Dodge Key] that is contextual (ex. are you on the ground or wallrunning), that is also being modified by your [Crouch Key].

> Shooting mechanics 


Taken straight out of tactical shooters such as CSGO (Spray Patterns), Insurgency & Tarkov: Weapons fire directly forward from their in-game cannons, this works on top of spray patterns and movement-based bloom.

When moving, the heavier your weapon, the more it's displaced by your velocity, this balances their high DPS by making you have to think more about your movement & positioning.

Every move you do you can know it'll affect your aim! So make sure you learn your weapons if you want to be able to move all over the place while firing!

As of December 2022 there are 8 different enemies in the game! Each acts, fires, dodges and behaves in their own distinctive manners that you can learn to counter! Expect to be sneaked up onto, rushed, and for enemies to take decisions based on your actions, status,  their health and your respective positions among other things!


The game's prototype will release for free here on itch.io! And will continue development, slowly adding more features & modes as support for the game grows


As of, mid-late 2022, the game had been developed by a single software engineer, with no external funding, using carefully selected 3D art made by indie artists from around the internet, credited under the CC Attribution License, as specified by their requirements.

Update: As of december of 2022 the project currently grew in size as 3 musicians, a composer & sound designer, as well as 1 Voice Actor have joined the team to further work on improving the art of the game. As funding grows we hope to be able to get a 3D artist and 3D animator to further improve on the visual quality of the project. With hopes of achieving this, we will be releasing the public prototype demo for free! Please take this into account if you enjoy what we are creating!

SOULSLIKE SINGLE-PLAYER 

  • Combat focused on learning & dodging telegraphed attacks
  • Faltering (Stun & Weakpoints Systems)
  • Limited Manual HP regeneration: You only have a few charges of heal syringes per checkpoint. You can increase charges and the amount they heal through progression.
  • Leveling & progression through currency: Use the currency obtained from killing enemies
  • Lost Currency: currency is dropped on death, & lost forever if you die without retrieving it first.
  • Soulslike checkpoints & respawn system: Zones can be restarted manually by interacting with the checkpoints. This restores you, and all enemies in the zone, to full health.
  • Level Design: Exploration & Ambience inspired by classics of the genre.
  • Bosses (work in progress, not present in demo)

THE GAME MECHANICS

Predictable Spray Patterns

Inspired by CSGO's recoil system. The spray patterns are carefully designed to balance the other aspects of their respective weapons, such as their DPS, effective range, & rate of fire.


Multiple Weapon & Projectile Types


From hitscan and high velocity weapons with spray patterns, to projectiles with bullet fall, slow-travelling plasma weapons unaffected by gravity, hitscan lasers and charging railguns. BULLETMANCER STRIKE aims to provide a wide catalog of weapons, from multiple eras, and various types. All of them individually tweaked & balanced to work for the low-time-to-kill offensive-oriented gameplay that the game's design is going for.

I'm a Software Engineer with an specialization in videogame development and an unhealthy lifelong obsession over shooters, videogame mechanics & game balance.
